Step Up is set up with the highest internationally recognised standard of equipment , hygiene and sterilisation systems and protocols, and each of our artists proudly display our up to date annual OSHA bloodbourne pathogens compliance certificates.

Step Up offers advanced techniques including cosmetic permanent make up, scalp micro-pigmentation and specialised tattoos to cover scars, birthmarks and stretch marks.
We are one of the few studios in Durban that specialises and offers Dermal Piercings and advanced piercings.

Each step of all of our procedures are important and will be attended to with the utmost professionalism and care. We offer a wide variety of different styles and pride ourselves on the quality and versatility of our work, as well as giving our customers the best advice driven by over 20 years of experience.
We offer free consults to ensure you are completely happy with your final design before helping you realise your body modification dream.

High quality service and the studio was one of the cleanest I've seen, they take care and pride in their store, especially when it comes to hygiene and covid protocols which is what impressed me most. The staff are Awesome, I’ve been tattooed by Frank who designed a custom tattoo for me with very little insight from me of what I wanted, and he envisioned a tattoo that was perfectly fitting for me. I then had privilege of being tattooed by Kirsty, who took my sad, dull and illegible existing tattoo and she really turned it into something amazing and I am able to show off, she works so gently and efficiently, it was absolutely so awesome being tattooed by her! I also had piercings done by Bliancha, who really takes hygiene seriously which is a huge comfort especially when getting new piercings, she definitely knows her stuff, from angling the piercings, sizing them accordingly and prepping and cleaning the piercing site, it really made the experience comforting. Overall Step Up is definitely a place I will keep going to for any of these things and travelling from Johannesburg to their store definitely is worthwhile! I cannot say it enough, but honestly when it comes to hygiene these guys are on the top of that list and it really does make the experience that much more comforting because you know you are being looked after especially during the times we are going through! Super stoked to see you guys again!!

 Wow what can I say I'm so impressed with Bliancha I 100% recommend her for piercings. I did not feel a thing. And some people would consider the piercings I got to be painful but she is so quick you dont feel anything. I got other piercings done at another tattoo and piercing shop that is highly rated but he clearly didn't know what he was doing because my piercings hurt like hell! Bliancha also had a consultation with me talking about exactly what I wanted to get done and she answered all the questions and concerns I had. Kirsty was also very helpful in explaining the aftercare to me. They definitely deserve more customers. They are very professional and everything is sterilized and very clean, I cannot say enough good things about them.
